Prenatal Yoga Classes

My purpose is to continue the legacy of the yoga classes taught at the Sutter PregnaGym. The two fundamental elements of these classes are preparing the mind and body for the process of labor and delivery and also teaching positive birth positions that open the pelvis, which is beneficial through the course of labor. Moms are also taught to recognize stress and tension that they carry in their body and to use their breath as a means of release. Poses help relieve the discomforts that often accompany pregnancy and are modified for all trimesters. Prenatal yoga is a place to connect with other pregnant women and focus on ways to cope with physical and emotional changes brought on by pregnancy. Each class ends in a final relaxation exercise that will leave the pregnant woman refreshed and rejuvenated. No prior knowledge of yoga is needed to join our classes.

Postpartum Yoga Classes

Postpartum yoga offers a unique place where moms can
workout while keeping their babies with them. This class
incorporates yoga for stretching and strengthening, abdominal
work to tone the stomach, and free weights to build muscle.
Moms also connect with each other and build a community
within the class that often leads to extended friendships
outside of class.

Women's Hatha Yoga Classes

This class is for the woman seeking a place to connect with
her body. We will use our breath to move through poses that
help to stretch and strengthen the body. Time is spent in class
focusing on the structure of poses to increase body awareness
and proper positioning. This class is a good place for beginners
to enter into a yoga practice because modifications are taught.
It is also a great place for those wanting to continue to grow in
their practice. The class ends in final relaxation, further letting
go of any remaining stress or tension, allowing our breath to
carry us into a peaceful place.
